Please note that the following news item is an archived article. Therefore any links and information may now be out of date. Autodesk have released the Geotechnical Module for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015. This module is developed by Keynetix and licensed to Autodesk.

Added support for Civil 3D version 2016. 2.0.0 Added support for additional AutoCAD properties: linetype, lineweight, color, and plot style. Added new command to toggle on or off all Civil 3D background masks: “cmi_c3d_style_bmtoggle”. Added support for Civil 3D version 2015.

It allows geotechnical borehole data to be imported from AGS and CSV files as well as directly from HoleBASE SI into AutoCAD Civil 3D, creating 3D boreholes, strata surfaces and profiles. The Geotechnical Module is available to Infrastructure Design Suite subscription holders from the Product Enhancements area of the Autodesk subscription website (click downloads to expand the menu) Keynetix are also working on the latest Geotechnical Module upgrade- the HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D. The new version will be available in September 2014. The new release is a total redevelopment of the Geotechnical Module enabling much improved performance and functionality. We will notify you all as soon as the new release of the HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D is launched.

This class will show simple and effective methods for easily creating variable-height retaining walls using tools in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and it will be of interest to anyone wishing to work on retaining wall design. The class will cover concepts that are often misconstrued as complex, and we will deliver these topics in an easy-to-understand and occasionally entertaining style. The delegate will see ways in which to represent a retaining wall as a surface, as well as construct a full solid model of the design. We will introduce Subassembly Composer software to offer intelligence to the creation of the solid model.

We will discuss workflows into Revit software, and we will present an unconventional workflow into Inventor software. The course handout notes will also include material to enable the attendees to present their own classes on this topic to peers.
